What is Reflexology?

Reflexology, is an ancient Chinese technique that uses pressure-point massage (usually on the feet, but also on the hands and ears) to restore the flow of energy throughout the entire body. The science of Reflexology has been around for thousands of years. It is based on the premise that there are reflexes in our hands, feet and ears that relate to every organ and part of our body. By stimulating these reflexes with pressure and manipulation, nerve function and blood supply may be improved, which may alleviate stress and other health problems. Reflexology is based on the belief that each part of the body is interconnected through the nervous system to the hands and feet. Stimulating specific reflex points in the feet can bring needed nutrients to poorly functioning areas of the body. This can help restore balance throughout the body.

"A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body."

What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage has been practised in India for over 1000 years. Traditionally the techniques were restricted to the head and hair, to improve scalp and hair condition of Indian women. Nowadays a system incorporating the upper back, shoulders, neck, upper arms and face, in the belief that these are important energy centres in the body and by treating these the whole body can benefit.

Indian Head Massage is a safe, accessible, and convenient therapeutic treatment.  Treatment can provide instant relief from tension and stress symptoms and induce a state of calm, peace and tranquillity and also promote high levels of alertness and concentration.

This simple yet effective therapy uses a variety of techniques to manipulate soft tissue. It is performed with the client in a seated position, usually through light clothing and without the use of oils.  I will use a range of different massage pressures and rhythms to stimulate the head, neck, and upper back and shoulder area. A typical massage will last approximately 30 minutes.

About me....

After graduating in 2005 from Queen Mary University of London with a Bsc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry I worked within the pharmaceutical industry, firstly in research and then later in sales. After the birth of my second child in 2012, I took a more holistic approach to healthcare and the benefits of complimentary therapy, alone or alongside traditional medical approaches. I started practicing reflexology in 2013 and fully qualified at the beginning of 2014 gaining an additional qualification in Lymphatic Drainage Reflexology (LDR)

In June 2015 I attended the Jubilee Collage seminar on 'Cancer and Palliative Care'.

I received a diploma in 'Reflexology in Pre - conceptual, Pregnancy and Post Natal Care' in February 2017.

I enjoy meeting clients and helping them achieve a sense of balance and relaxation both physically and mentally and each individual treatment is customised to achieve this based on the clients initial consultation.
